Date of incident: 29/10/2018 

Armed pirates abducted four crew members from a Singapore-flagged offshore supply vessel at 0330 hrs local time 68nm off Pointe-Noire. The pirates boarded the vessel and made all crew lie on the deck while gunmen ransacked and looted the ship. There were no initial reports on the nationalities of the abducted crew members. The remaining crew sailed the vessel to a safe port. At least one crew member was injured and bridge equipment damaged during the attack. Armed pirate attacks are sporadically reported off the coast of Congo, but kidnap-for-ransom attacks are rare.
